1. Send the Boss justification letter to your boss…it worked for me.
2. Pass the CSWP so you can save a $100 on the registration fee.
3. Register before October 28th and save another $200.
4. I visited all the travel websites trying to find the best flight/hotel package deal and guess what? The best deal was reserving the hotel with the special SolidWorks rate and booking your flight directly on the airline website.
5. Before you reserve a room at a ‘cheaper’ hotel 2 miles from the convention center, consider the logistics of getting back & forth. Will you rent a car, take a taxi or jog? I decided that it was worth the extra cost to be at the hotel which is right next to the convention center.
6. Schedule your flight and hotel reservation to arrive the day before the conference starts and consider that there is a lot going on Sunday so you might want to get there on Saturday.
7. Along the same lines, I don’t recommend trying to fly back the day the conference ends. Your brain has absorbed a whole lot of data by now and you will need some time to recharge before heading back to work. Take it easy, do a little sightseeing and get a good night’s sleep.
8. If you’re able take your wife with you…remembers Valentine’s day is on Tuesday. Get a free visitor pass and consider buying her a ticket for the offsite event on Tuesday night.
I’ve been to one SolidWorks World and I can honestly say to you that it is worth the effort and money to make the trip. If you do make the trip let me know and we’ll get together while we’re there.
See this website for all the information you need about SolidWorks World 2012.
